Gottsacker and Filippi Finish 4th at Road Atlanta, 2nd in Championship
Harry Gottsacker and Mason Filippi put in a solid drive in their Bryan Herta Autosport Hyundai Veloster N TCR at Road Atlanta in the Michelin Pilot Challenge Fox Factory 120. Harry Gottsacker would start the car for the two hour event. As the TCR lead pack worked through the GS traffic, Gottsacker worked the traffic brilliantly to improve his position to fourth place before a series of long yellows. Harry would hand over the car on lap 25 to Mason Filippi for the remainder of the race.
Great strategy from the BHA crew would pit the #21 car first and would cycle the #21 to the lead of the race on the 47th lap of the race. Filippi ended up after a lengthy full course yellow in a battle with Mark Wilikins in the other Hyundai Veloster N TCR and two Audi competitors. Unfortunately, an optimistic move from the #23 Audi would result in contact and eliminate the podium hopes for the #21 car.
A fourth place result was enough to lock in second place in the Michelin Pilot Challenge TCR Drivers’ Championship for Gottsacker and Filippi. Hyundai placed second in the Manufactuer’s Championship by a narrow margin, and Bryan Herta Autosport won the TCR Team Championship. This was a fantastic result for a rookie season in the IMSA series for Harry Gottsacker and the Bryan Herta Autosport team.
